NASHVILLE— The Eastern men’s basketball team’s 2015-2016 season has come to an end. The Panthers fell to Murray State 78-62 in the first round of the Ohio Valley Conference tournament.

Eastern beat Murray State 85-74 just one week prior to Wednesday night’s first round matchup.

The Panthers got off to a really slow start Wednesday night against Murray State giving up the first eight points of the game.

The Panthers trailed 45-29 at the end of the first half. The Racers seemed to have control of the game the entire first half. Wayne Langston was the main threat for the Racers scoring 12 points in the first half. He finished with 22 points.

Murray State shot 61 percent in the first half and Eastern shot just 37 percent. Junior A.J. Riley was 2-4 from the 3-point line and almost was able to get the Panthers in striking distance, but any Panther point was answered by Murray State at the other end.

The second half was not much better for the Panthers as they never got the lead cut to under 15.

McReynolds was the Panthers’ leading scorer with 14 points. Sophomore Cornell Johnston had 12 points and three assists.

Eastern shot 40.4 percent for the game.

Murray State advances to play Morehead State Thursday night.
