Williams parlays DEN experience into internship at Journal Standard

Matt Williams will return this fall as sports editor for the Daily Eastern News after a stint as associate sports editor and staff writer. Williams' duties will include overseeing the sports section as well as laying out copy and overseeing a slew of writers.

Erwin, who will return to the News as th editorial/opinion editor, previosuly reared his head as Verge and Online editor as well as two years as a copyeditor. In addition to his duties with the News Erwin will return to Where It's @ Magazine as editor in chief.

Good afternoon. Like the true, loyal Eastern Illinois University alum I am, I have tried several times this summer to read the current events of the campus through the DEN Online. I have relied on this medium before during the school year and have enjoyed being able to read some of the headlines prior to seeing them in black and white.

Tuition Increase

Tuition increases are always depressing because of the hopelessness involved. Unlike other facets of our wondrous capitalistic economy where we can bargain shop or learn to live without, a tuition increase is something that many of us feel as though we must pay. Geography often makes price comparison a moot point, and though education isn't in the same ballpark of necessities as food, rent or utilities, it's considered an item needed in order to achieve basic goals in life. You might believe that since 'the pursuit of happiness' is an ideal that each American is supposedly entitled to, we wouldn't allow a predicament that causes us to be depressed or to feel hopeless exist.
